Here's a step-by-step guide to help you set up your Phantom wallet and make payments using the Solana network.

Setting Up Your Phantom Wallet

Download and Install Phantom

  • Desktop Users: Visit phantom.com/download and select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge) to add the Phantom extension.​

  • Mobile Users: Download the Phantom app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android.​

Create a New Wallet

  • Browser Extension:

    • Click on the Phantom icon in your browser toolbar.

    • Select “Create New Wallet”.

    • Set a secure password and agree to the Terms of Service.

    • Click “Continue”.​

  • Mobile App:

    • Open the Phantom app.

    • Tap “Create New Wallet”.

    • Enable biometric security (recommended) and proceed.​

Enable Biometric Authentication: For added security, enable Face ID or fingerprint recognition on your mobile device.​

Secure Your Secret Recovery Phrase

You will be presented with a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase (also known as a seed phrase). This phrase is crucial for accessing and recovering your wallet.

  • Important:

    • Write down your Secret Recovery Phrase and store it in a secure location.

    • Do not share this phrase with anyone.

    • Phantom will never ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase.

    • Losing this phrase means losing access to your wallet and funds.​

Accessing Your Wallet

  • Browser Extension:

    • After setup, the Phantom icon will appear in your browser toolbar.

    • If it's not visible, click the puzzle piece icon to find and pin Phantom for easy access.​

  • Mobile App:

    • Open the Phantom app to access your wallet dashboard.​

Funding Your Wallet with SOL

To make transactions on the Solana network, you'll need to fund your wallet with SOL tokens.

  1. Obtain Your Wallet Address:

    • Open Phantom and click “Receive”.

    • Select “Solana” to view your wallet address.

    • Copy the address or use the displayed QR code.​

  2. Transfer SOL to Your Wallet:

    • From another wallet or exchange, initiate a transfer to your Phantom wallet address.

    • Ensure you're sending SOL on the Solana network.

Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, your SOL balance will appear in Phantom.​

Making Payments Using SOL

With your wallet funded, you can now make payments on the Solana network.

  1. Initiate a Payment:

    • Click “Send” in Phantom.

    • Enter the recipient's Solana wallet address.

    • Specify the amount of SOL to send.

    • Optionally, add a memo for reference.

    • Click “Next”.​

  2. Confirm and Send:

    • Review the transaction details.

    • Click “Send” to finalize the payment.​

The transaction will be processed quickly, thanks to Solana's high-speed network.​

By following these steps, you can confidently create and use your Phantom wallet to manage and transact with SOL on the Solana network.
